The 2009 MOST of the Year for US News: President Barack Obama
Barack H. Obama, the 44th President of the United States, is our selection for the Most of 2009: US News. Both the nature of his presidency is historic as is the timing of his assumption of this office.
The first year agenda of this administration has been extremely far reaching, in part due to a mandate handed to Obama as a result of his landslide victory and also a harsh recognition that as a nation America is in a very challenging position with regard to our economy, our global standing and also our own estimation of ourselves as a nation.
Time will tell, but some of the key items on the agenda have been TARP, the wars in Iraq (pulling back) and Afghanistan (ramping up), and Health Care (passed, but probably not as robust as most would have liked).
In terms of this category, clearly there is no other Most for 2009 regarding the United States that has had nearly the impact of President Obama, and likely given how ambitious this administrations agenda is, provided the Democrats hold a majority in the House and Senate for 2010 we’ll continue to see much more of this very high profile, highly visible president for 2010 and beyond.Posted on Monday, December 21st, 2009 Both comments and pings are currently closed.
